How much does a Screenshot API cost?
SnapshotFlow currently provides 300 free screenshots for the lifetime of your account, with no credit card required. This allowance does not renew monthly. Check your dashboard for the remaining balance. A fresh screenshot uses one unit and a successful visual diff uses two units. The free allowance gives you a way to test your capture workflow before planning larger workloads.
The current SnapshotFlow allowance
SnapshotFlow currently provides 300 free screenshots for the lifetime of an account, with no credit card required. This allowance does not reset monthly. Check the dashboard for used and remaining units.
What uses a screenshot unit?
A regular synchronous screenshot request uses one unit after a fresh render succeeds. A cache hit uses no new unit. A successfully rendered login screen, challenge page, or incomplete page can still count. Batch and async jobs reserve a unit before rendering, so later failures can still use quota. A successful visual diff uses two units.
When the allowance is exhausted
A synchronous capture can return HTTP 402 with QUOTA_EXCEEDED. Check your remaining balance before submitting more renders. Batch items and async jobs can report quota errors individually. Use the free allowance to test your capture workflow and monitor your remaining balance in the dashboard.
Comparing API and self-hosting costs
When evaluating screenshot services, compare the number of actual renders, cache behavior, request limits, storage, and the features you need. With self-hosting, you also operate Chromium, compute capacity, storage, updates, and access controls. Those infrastructure costs are separate from the hosted free allowance.
